Using ‘swagbots’ or just plainly ‘bots’(also known as Web bots, Internet bots, or computer robots) is cheating, and it’s wrong when using them to complete online surveys and offers. Bots and macros are useful to complete repetitive tasks on your desktop and helps to get a large amount of work done with one click, however when using them to fill out surveys, and offers is a bit risky.

There are a lot of people out there using  “bots” to help at getting more Swagbucks, and that actually is pretty clever however it messes up a good thing for everyone.  Swagbucks considers it cheating, and takes the fun out of everything that there is to making swagbucks. You don’t wanna be a cheater. 😀

So…What is a bot?

Per Wiki:

“An Internet bot, also known as web robot, WWW robot or simply bot, is a software application that runs automated tasks over the Internet. Typically, bots perform tasks that are both simple and structurally repetitive, at a much higher rate than would be possible for a human alone.”

If we think about why this is bad for the advertisement business, most of swagbucks is based around paying members to view advertisements from companies, along with having members complete offers, and buy products.

Let’s look at how bots can be unethically used for Swagbucks TV (that’s the video below). Swagbucks pays member to “watch videos”, but you’re really being paid to VIEW the advertisements before, and after each video. In order to actually get paid you have to enter a three digit code after you’ve watched enough commercials up to 35 swagbucks per day.

What this genius below is doing is showing people how to set up a robot to watch Swagbucks TV. After watching the set amount of videos, you will be credited 3 swagbucks after entering a 3 digit passcode. The bot enters the 3 digit security code as well. It’s good for him since he will not have much work to do, but the companies money in ads are being wasted because he is not actively seeing those ads due to the robot doing all the work. Swagbucks still gets paid, the cheater is getting paid, but the company is losing the actually viewership from cheaters using bots.

Caught with SwagBots?

If you are doing this method of collecting SBs I suggest not getting too comfy since Swagbucks does a good job of promptly terminating down accounts caught cheating along with the account holder’s self esteem.  Secondly, what ever money earned in the account will be “Terminated” as well. In the user agreement you can have your account deactivated for any reason. If Swagbucks suspects you are using bots or other type of cheating devices, they can quickly give you the boot, and remove any swagbucks in your account. You  will not be paid.
